    The CCSA is Canada’s national addictions agency. This is a not-for-profit organization supported by the Federal Government through Canada's Drug Strategy that provides evidenced based information on health, social and economic issues related to substance abuse.

    The CCSA produces Action News the official newsletter of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse. It is published quarterly with periodic electronic updates. Subscriptions to Action News can be made for either electronic and print versions. For more information, see the CCSA Web site.

    Check Your Drinking is an evidence-based 18-item tool that aims to provide customized feedback to individuals to help them to evaluate how their drinking compares  to that of the average person of the same age and gender. The tool has been developed by Evolution Health Systems, Inc., in collaboration with leading researchers in the field. After completing the questions, a tailored feedback report is produced describing the individual's patterns of alcohol use, and the potential risks and consequences of those patterns. The tool has been evaluated and has been shown to be effective in controlled studies.

Click on one of seven mice to launch an animated slide show that explains in simple terms how a brain reacts to the drug. This site is an excellent resource for teachers and students.

    Alcohol Harm Reduction Treatment All Links Addiction Tobacco Illicit Drugs Youth Prevention

    Streetworks is an Edmonton inner-city agency dedicated to reducing harm and promoting health of inner-city residents and drug users. The non-profit organization provides needle exchange, nursing services, a natural helpers program, referrals, support for local businesses, advocacy, health education, and many other services to support clients to be as healthy as safe as possible. Streetworks is a very active member of the Edmonton community, sitting on a wide variety of committees and engaging with government, businesses, and other groups to educate and advocate concerning issues affecting the inner-city drug using community. Streetworks collaborates with several researchers to conduct meaningful evaluation and research activities that contribute to the knowledge base and improve services for clients.

    The Streetworks website offers portals for clients and professional. The client site provides excellent resources and information on such topics as street first aid, preventing illness, sexual health, foot care, basic drug information, and how to get help.
